Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S22: release date, pricing, and other details.

Although the Galaxy S22 may have significant camera enhancements, the newest rumors suggest that Samsung's next smartphone may also feature a smaller battery and display.

Last week, Samsung held its August 2021 Unpacked event, where it announced new versions of its foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, as well as its new wristwatch, the Galaxy Watch 4. But when can we expect to see the rumored Galaxy S22, Samsung's next top phone? We don't have any official news yet, but this year's Galaxy S21 range was announced in January, so Samsung's next flagship might arrive early next year. Despite the fact that the smartphone's planned release date is still some time away, the rumor mill is constantly churning.

So far, we've heard that the Galaxy S22 series might get a big camera improvement, possibly with a 200-megapixel image sensor. However, the newest rumors about Samsung's next flagship suggest that, while we may see a few camera upgrades, the Galaxy S22 may have a smaller battery and display.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 was introduced in January and wowed us with its good overall performance and superior feature-to-price ratio. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21 Ultra wowed us with its amazing camera setup and ability to shoot excellent zoomed-in photos. But what about the sequel series? We're excited to see what the Galaxy S22 has in store for us.

So, here's what we expect to see with the Galaxy S22.

The display and battery of the Galaxy S22 may be smaller than those of its predecessor.

For the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung may offer significantly lower display sizes. The Galaxy S22 might feature a 6.01-inch display, the Galaxy S22 Plus could have a 6.55-inch screen, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra could have a 6.81-inch display, according to Twitter leaker Tron. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 series features 6.2-, 6.7-, and 6.8-inch screens.

The Galaxy S22 lineup's batteries may also be smaller. Tron speculates that the batteries in the S22 and S22 Plus will be 3,800 and 4,000 mAh, respectively. According to the leaker, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will keep its 5,000-mAh battery.

Will The Galaxy S22 be released in January 2022

Samsung usually releases its S-series phones in March, but in 2021, it defied convention by releasing the S21 line in January. The company typically updates its handsets every 12 months, so we expect the S22 to be announced in January 2022, possibly at or around the CES tech show in Las Vegas.

However, it's feasible that Samsung may give the S21 series some breathing room and return to a March launch date. With COVID-19 limitations potentially eased by then, Samsung might have an in-person launch event, as it frequently does in locations around the world at the same time.

Price: How much will the Galaxy S22 set you back?

The Galaxy S20 line's sales did not impress, and it's probable that this had a lot to do with the usually high pricing, along with significant financial concern for many individuals as a result of the epidemic. By replacing glass back panels with hardened plastic, the S21 provided phones at somewhat lower pricing. Here are all of the distinctions between the Galaxy S21 and S20.

At launch, the base S20 cost $1,000 in the United States, while the base S21 cost $800. While we don't anticipate Samsung to try to make the S22 line cheaper, we believe it's a fair bet that the firm will aim to equal the pricing point of the S21 rather than raising it back to S20 levels.

Multiple Galaxy S22 models: Plus and Ultra

It's also a safe bet that Samsung will release many variants of the S22 series, each with a different set of specifications and prices. We're expected to see a base S22, an improved S22 Plus, and an S22 Ultra model at the top of the line with the greatest specifications – and the highest price to match.
It's a recipe Samsung has used for several generations, and it's definitely a technique that works. For those on a tighter budget, the firm may release a less expensive Galaxy S22 FE, but it won't be available with the rest of the lineup; the S21 FE isn't expected until later this year. The Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) debuted in October 2020, eight months after the flagship S20 range. To reach a lower price, the Fan Edition phone sacrificed a few smart features and specifications.

The Galaxy S22 may be capable of 65W charging.

According to FrontTron, Samsung may be updating the S22 series with 65-watt charging capabilities. The source said on Twitter in July that Rainbow RGB, a supposed codename for the S22 series, is testing 65-watt fast charging. If this rumor is correct, the S22 will have much quicker charging speeds than the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Note 20 lineups, both of which feature 25-watt charging.

Processor, Android version, and display of the Galaxy S22

In its S series phones, Samsung often uses both Qualcomm Snapdragon chips and its own Exynos CPUs, depending on area, and we fully anticipate it to do so again in the S22 range. But it's safe to presume it'll be the next version of both CPUs, likely the Snapdragon 895 (due out in December this year) and the Exynos 2200.

Samsung collaborated with graphics processor manufacturer AMD in 2019 to improve mobile graphics capability, but we have yet to see any Samsung phone outfitted with specialized AMD hardware. The S22 (or, more likely, the S22 Ultra) might be the first AMD phone with improved graphics performance for gaming.

It's also a fair guess that the S22 series will run Android 12 – which was revealed at Google's I/O event in June and is now in beta form – with Samsung's own user interface changes on top, including things like Samsung Health, Samsung Pay, and its Bixby virtual assistant software.
The size of the display will very probably vary depending on the model you choose. With the S21 series, the standard S21 was the smallest at 6.2 inches, the S21 Plus was somewhat larger at 6.7 inches, and the S21 Ultra was much larger at 6.8 inches. According to early reports, Samsung will make the S22 and S22 Plus significantly smaller – 6.05 and 6.5 inches, respectively. According to the same reports, the S21 Ultra will remain around the same size and, like the S21 Ultra, will be the only one in the series to provide variable refresh rates up to 120Hz.
